8 documented faults under Electronics & Firmware. Each entry sets out the symptom as owners report it, the most likely cause, the checks that confirm or rule it out, and whether the repair is worth doing — compiled and cross-checked from manufacturer documentation and owner reports, with sources listed on every page.
Documented faults
- Bambu Lab P1S
Heatbed temperature does not rise during print preparation, or the bed simply never heats after a bed temperature is set
Either the bed's temperature sensor circuit is broken, so the printer reads nothing and never asks for heat, or the sensor is fine and the mains-side heating supply to the bed has failed
Electronics & Firmware 2026-09-01 - Prusa MK4
Printer stops during Z-axis homing with "Failed to home the extruder in Z-axis, make sure the loadcell is working" and error code #13301
Usually something adding resistance the loadcell reads as the nozzle touching the bed too early — filament drag, a binding trapezoid nut, or overtightened bolts near the sensor — rather than a failed loadcell
Electronics & Firmware 2026-08-29 - Prusa MINI
Printer stops during the initial preheat with "Preheat error print head" and error code #12202, before the print begins
The hotend is not gaining heat at all — usually a broken or intermittent connection in the heater or thermistor wiring at the print head, rather than a failed mainboard
Electronics & Firmware 2026-08-24 - Bambu Lab A1 Mini
Print stops part-way and the printer reports 'The nozzle temperature is abnormal, the sensor may be open circuit' with HMS code 0300-0200-0001-0007
An open circuit somewhere in the hotend's NTC temperature-sensor path — far more often a connector that has backed part-way out of the toolhead board than a genuinely failed sensor
Electronics & Firmware 2026-08-23 - Creality Ender 3 V2
Printer stops dead and the screen shows 'Err: MINTEMP' with 'Printer halted. kill() called!' — nothing responds until it is switched off and on again
An open circuit in a temperature-sensor path — usually a thermistor lead fatigued where the hotend loom flexes — so the firmware reads an impossibly low temperature and shuts everything down; a genuinely cold workshop can trip the same limit with nothing broken
Electronics & Firmware 2026-08-23 - Milwaukee 2606-20
Drill appears completely dead with a fully charged battery — no lights, no response, as if the tool has failed entirely
The tool has been remotely locked via Milwaukee's One-Key app, not a hardware fault — a locked tool looks and behaves exactly like a dead one
Electronics & Firmware 2026-07-11 - Prusa MK3S
Print aborts partway through with a THERMAL RUNAWAY error, usually right as the part-cooling fan spins up, even though the hotend was heating perfectly moments before
The part-cooling fan is cooling the hotend heater block faster than it can compensate — usually because the silicone sock insulating the heater block is missing, worn out, or the printer's sock/no-sock setting doesn't match reality — which trips the firmware's thermal safety cutoff and looks exactly like a failed thermistor or heater cartridge
Electronics & Firmware 2026-07-11 - Bambu Lab A1
Printer shows 'printing' state in the app and on the display with no job running; won't accept new jobs until power-cycled
Stale print-job state left behind after an interrupted job or dropped cloud connection — the previous job's status is never cleared
